Instagram is a great place to connect and engage. Whether you are a personal brand or a business, it might be time to narrow down on IG and consider an Instagram branding strategy. 

Instagram has 1 billion active users and 500 million users favor stories every day. Instagram used to be that silly place where a younger demographic posted pictures but not anymore. Now businesses have adopted IG as one of their main revenue generating tools.

So who’s on Instagram nowadays? The demographics as of 2019 range from:

  •  18-34 (64%)
  •  between 35 and 54 years old (25%)
  •  between 13 and 17 years old  (6%)
  •  adults over 65 (5%)

More than 40 billion photos have been shared on the platform. IG users also send out about 3.5 billion shares and likes per day.

 

How often should you post on Instagram?

Posting content regularly is a great IG branding strategy. It’s not enough to post a picture or a story once every two weeks or even once a month. You want your brand to be visible often. Your brand should seem fresh in your customer’s eyes. Once per day is just perfect. 

Also, you don’t want to be to ‘sales-ey.’ Mix your content up so it doesn’t seem like your promoting your product too much. Your followers will become frustrated and will crave a mix of content:

Post a link in your bio for content, campaigns, and/or giveaways. If you’re running a promotion you should run an Instagram post  or an Instagram story about it. Especially for a business, you want to know if your links are working. Use a tool like bitly to see where your links are being shared.
